What is starrcade 1999?

Starrcade 1999 was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on December 19, 1999, at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C.

The main event of the evening was a Triple Threat match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, featuring Bret Hart defending his title against Goldberg and Kevin Nash. The match ended in controversy, as Nash pinned Hart after hitting him with a taser gun, allowing him to win the championship.

Other matches on the card included a Ladder match between Chris Benoit and Jeff Jarrett for the vacant WCW United States Heavyweight Championship, as well as a Steel Cage match between Sting and The Total Package (Lex Luger).

Despite some exciting matches, Starrcade 1999 received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. Many criticized the controversial finish to the main event and the overall booking of the event. Additionally, WCW's financial struggles and backstage turmoil were beginning to take their toll on the quality of the product.

Starrcade 1999 would be the last time the event was held by WCW, as the company was eventually purchased by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2001.
